Eugene Harvey Makes Transition

Eugene Harvey admits the transition wasn't easy, but going from a huge school in New York to a small prep school in New Jersey was the best move for the pass-first floor leader.

Eugene Harvey has come a long way since missing much of his sophomore year for what he deemed "behavioral" problems.

Now the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Brooklyn native has thrived under Dan Hurley's direction at St. Benedict's (N.J.).

``I've changed everything, but mostly the way I carry myself and also my study habits," Harvey said. "All I needed was a second chance."

Harvey spent his first two seasons at Boys & Girls Club before being re-classified and spending the past two years at St. Benedict's. The 18-year-old has displayed a solid floor game and the ability to get his teammates involved.

Harvey, who has seen his GPA rise to a 2.8 since coming to St. Benedict's, will play with Aneesa's Sports in July.

Harvey mentioned Mississippi State, Pittsburgh and Miami, along with Maryland, as schools on his list for now.

``I just want to come in and play," he said. "I'll go anywhere."
