2006 Focus: Ryan Anderson

Ryan Anderson, a 6-8 senior center from Oak Ridge (Calif.) El Dorado, recently participated in an elite camp at USC. The Trojans are apparently very interested, along with some other West Coast programs...

Ryan Anderson, 6-8 SR C El Dorado (Calif.) Oak Ridge, is a very good shooting big man with range out to the three-point line. He needs to improve his inside game, but he is pretty skilled with the ball for a young post.

We spoke with Anderson yesterday and asked him about the schools that interest him.

"I really like UCLA," said Anderson. "I'm going to their camp next week. I was at USC's camp last week and they offered me a scholarship. I like the school a lot and the coaches were real nice, but I'm still wide open. Other schools that I like are Gonzaga, UConn, Santa Clara and Pacific."

We asked Anderson about the factors he'll consider when making his choice.

"Pretty much the education – if I can graduate from the school and get a good job," said Anderson. "Also if they run a system I can play in. Location is probably a pretty big factor. I really like Southern California, which is pretty close to home."

When asked about the schools he might visit, Anderson said, "I'm supposed to visit UOP, USC, Santa Clara and Gonzaga, but I don't have any dates yet. It will be after July."

Anderson said he doesn't have a timeframe for choosing a school, but he'd prefer to get it done before his senior season.

His summer plans are still somewhat up in the air, but Anderson said he'll definitely be at the Big Time and the Best of Summer in July. He told us he has a 3.0 GPA and he's waiting on results from a recent SAT.
