Messy Likely To Play In The Atlantic 10

Emmanuel Messy, a native of Cameroon and former resident of Canada, suffered through an injury-riddled 2002 season. The 6-7 athlete needs more surgery but one school remained steadfast in its recruitment and will likely obtain his services for next season.

Fordham Was On Him All The Time

Emmanuel Messy, a 6-7 forward at St. Benedict's, is likely headed for a spring signing with Fordham. "The kid came to me and said that he told (Fordham) that he's going there," St. Benedict's head coach Dan Hurley said.

The move makes sense. Fordham is the lone school to stick with Messy through a tough season riddled with injuries. Messy hasn't played since October when he injured his foot playing pickup ball.

"He is going to have surgery on his foot," Hurley said. "He's got what's called a "Jones Fracture."

The athletic Messy will probably play a combo forward role in college. He hails from Cameroon but spent a considerable amount of time in Canada before coming to New Jersey. He played some at Winchendon the year before.
