West Coast 2006 Centers

The 2006 West Coast center class is loaded. Spencer Hawes, Taylor Harrison, Brook Lopez and Craig Brackins are among the top prospects in the group...

The 2006 West Coast centers are a very deep and talented group. This is easily the best group of centers the west has had in the last several years. Hawes is he most skilled and polished big man in the west, with the ability to play in the low-post or facing up on the perimeter. He's got a great feel for the game and the best fundamentals of any center in the west. Lopez is not too far behind Hawes and he has a legitimate chance to take the top spot by the end of summer. Lopez is a very good athlete, with great size and good feet. He can shoot to the three-point line and he's a good shot-blocker. Harrison is the most physical post player in the west and he's a tireless worker. He's improved tremendously over the last couple years and we think he'll continue to get better. Brackins sat out this past year due to academic issues, but he has a great upside. He's got the length, and athleticism, to end up as one of the best post players in this class. Robin Lopez isn't quite as skilled as Brook, but he's a very good prospect in his own right. He's also a very good athlete, with a great frame, and he'll have a chance to play right away in college.
