Renardo Sidney Ready to Decide?

If it were up to Renardo Sidney, his recruitment would be over prior to his first high school game.

If it were up to Renardo Sidney, the process would be over prior to his first high school game. The rising freshman from Mississippi would give Alabama coach Mark Gottfried a verbal commitment and more than four years later, the versatile kid from the Class of 2009 would enroll in Tuscaloosa.

However, Sidney's family is taking a cautious approach and they don't want the 6-foot-8, 210-pound versatile swingman to make a decision at such a young age.

``I'm going to go to Alabama," Sidney said. "I went to their elite camp a few weeks ago and I loved it. I'm going to Alabama."

Sidney, who will enroll at Piney Woods (Miss.) in August and play for former Mississippi assistant coach Wayne Brent, will turn 16 on Dec. 6.

``We didn't make a commitment," said Renardo Sidney Sr. "It's too early. He really likes Alabama, but anything can happen two or three years from now."

Sidney was impressive earlier this month at the ABCD Camp, earning all-star honors and after averaging 12.4 points and 5 boards per game in seven contests over the camp.

Sidney also scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in the underclassman all-star game.

Sidney is athletic, handles the ball extremely well for a player his size and can also make people around him better. He's also defends more consistently than most kids his age.
