Junior Prospect in Alaska

Chris Devine, a 6-7 junior small forward from Alaska, has a very nice feel for the game and he's getting looks from a number of high major programs...

Chris Devine, 6-7 JR SF Eagle River (Alaska) Chugiak, is a player who caught our eye two years ago with his solid all-around skills and understanding of the game. We originally thought of Devine as a good mid-major prospect, but he's grown a couple inches since the summer and he's now getting interest from a number of high majors.

We spoke with Devine recently and he told us he's hearing from Oregon, Oregon St., Montana St., Wyoming, Wake Forest, Gonzaga, Pepperdine and many others.

We asked if he had a leader yet and Devine said, "Oregon St. and Wyoming are my two leaders right now."

Devine told us that he didn't really follow one particular school growing up and he's open to going just about anywhere, other than the East Coast. "I don't think I want to go to the East Coast," Devine said.

Devine said coaching, and his relationship with the coach, would be a major factor in his decision. He also said he would look at playing time and the atmosphere at the school when making his choice. We asked if he had thought about the level he'd like to play at and Devine replied, "I want to play at a high level, but also be able to get time. So whatever would give me the best combination of both.

Devine plans on taking his visits after the summer AAU circuit is over. He told us he has a 3.5 GPA and he'll take the SAT next month.
