Kinsey Makes Two Trips North

Tampa (FL) Jefferson senior wingman Tarence Kinsey recently finished up some visits and is now in the process of selecting a school. Kinsey parlayed big junior and senior seasons into interest from high-major programs.

UMass, Boston College Heavily Involved

Jefferson 6-6 senior small forward Tarence Kinsey didn't capture a state title as a senior, but his squad put up a fight in the playoffs. Now, it's time to pick a college.

Kinsey, who played with Nike Team Florida last summer, averaged 25 points per game as a senior and 20 a night as a junior. He was both an all-conference and all-state selection this year.

At the end of February, one consecutive weekends, Kinsey visited UMass and Boston College. He cited early playing time as reasons to strongly consider both programs. He also said Appalachian State, South Carolina, Tulane, Miami, Akron, Florida Southern and Old Dominion were recruiting him.

However, this could boil down to UMass and Boston College. "I'm looking at both of those the same," Kinsey said. "Hopefully, more (schools) will come into the picture before the signing period." Kinsey would not say who had hoped would get involved.
