Neely Has Mid-Major Attention

One of the top prospects in the state of North Carolina is shooting guard Marsharee Neely. The Greensboro Page standout has quite a list and a mid-July leader.

One of the reasons for the success of the NC Gaters is shooting guard Marsharee Neely. The 6-foot-2 guard out of Greensboro Page has a premium stroke. He averaged 18 points, 7 boards and shot 42% from downtown as a junior.

Colleges are recruiting Neely as a guard who could possibly play both spots in the backcourt. "I'm probably more comfortable at the two guard just shooting," Neely said. "But I'll play anything they want me to play to be honest."

Presently, Neely has offers from VCU, Old Dominion, UNC-Wilmington, Wingate, High Point, Wofford and East Carolina. Virginia Tech and West Virginia are evaluating him this month.

"I've talked a little bit to Virginia Tech but West Virginia, they're pretty much just jumping into it and getting information on me," Neely said.

As of mid-July, Neely was slightly favoring one school. "Probably Old Dominion," the guard said. "I already went to visit unofficially and I got to know the coach a little more and some of the players."

"I haven't really decided on anything yet. I was going to wait until after I come back from [the AAU Nationals] to get into it like that."
