AAU Spotlight: Kappa Magic

Andre Gould just won a state championship as an assistant coach at Winston-Salem Reynolds. Now, Gould turns his attention toward more success as the head coach of the Kappa Magic. The Magic has some of the best players in North Carolina on their roster.

Kappa Magic Won't Disappear Early In Tournaments

Andre Gould has to be one happy coach. His Kappa Magic is going to be tough. The Magic, based in the Winston-Salem area, sports a few of the bigger names in North Carolina High School basketball.

The Magic's two best players are small forward Reyshawn Terry and point guard Chris Paul. The pair emerged as two of the premier players in the state last season and both are serious high-major targets.

Gould isn't sure are his best players, but he likes the choices. "For me, it's a tossup. I like Reyshawn Terry but I also like Chris Paul."

Paul, the lead guard at West Forsyth, had himself a big time junior season and Gould saw it coming. "He kind of snuck up on people last year," Gould said. "This year, they'll know who he is. He's taken the state by storm."

Here's the entire Kappa Magic roster:

Reyshawn Terry, SF
Chris Paul, PG
Keith Foster, PF
Eddie Greene, PF
Brandon Setzer, F
Roy Peake, PG
Brian Manning, SG/SF
Corey Hope, SF/PF
Chris Gaynor, PG, 2004

The 2002 Kappa Magic might be the best edition in the history of the program. "Potentially, yes, it could be," Gould said. "It has the most depth. We are two deep solid at each position. We have four kids on the squad going to the Nike All-American Camp. I guess the talent speaks for itself on that one."
