We spoke with Drew Gibson, 5-10 JR PG Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey, last night and he gave us an update on the early stages of his recruitment.
Gibson said he has been receiving mail from, and has interest in, Oregon, Stanford, Notre Dame, Pepperdine and Portland.
Gibson mentioned early playing time, academics and an up-tempo system as key factors in his decision. "Early playing time is very important," Gibson said. "I may not start right away, but I'd like to go somewhere that I can get major minutes."
Gibson said that he has no early leader. He did mention his teammate Donald Wilson, who has committed to Portland, has been talking up the Pilots. "Donald has good things to say about Portland," Gibson said. "Seems like a good school."
While Gibson says that geography will not play a role in his decision, he did mention going to a Pepperdine game earlier this season. "It was a cool environment," Gibson said.
When asked about his academic status, Gibson said, "I won't have any problem qualifying. I took the SAT in the 10th grade and got a 940. And I just took the test again two weeks ago."
