Badgers Strengthen Backcourt

The Wisconsin Badgers have assembled one of the premier backcourts in the Big Ten. On Monday, Trevon Hughes ended his recruitment.

A few weeks ago, Trevon Hughes told Scout.com that he had a favorite. "I have made the decision in my mind," Hughes said. "I stay pretty steady with it."

On Monday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Hughes confirmed the speculation that the Wisconsin Badgers were his choice over the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Hughes told the paper, "I didn't see any comparison between the other schools and Wisconsin."

In landing Hughes, the Badgers put the pieces together for one of the best future backcourts, not just in the Big Ten, but maybe in the country. Jason Bohannon, despite playing on an injured knee this summer that is presently being looked at, was terrific at Nike Camp.

Combining Bohannon and Hughes together is quite the 1-2 punch for the Badgers. Hughes is built like a tank. He's a strong willed guy who can get to the rim and finish. His perimeter game has come a long way.

The Badgers also hold a commitment from J.P. Gavinski of Wisconsin Dells. That gives them three players from Scout.com's current Top 100 – No.'s 53, 61 and 98. Not a bad recruiting class at all for the team that landed a pair of Top 100 prospects.
