West Coast Rankings: 2006 Shooting Guards

Matt Bouldin, Landry Fields, Russell Westbrook and Patrick Christopher are among the top shooting guards in the West Coast class of 2006...

The 2006 West Coast shooting guard class isn't full of elite talent, but it is a deep class in terms of potential Division One prospects. Bouldin is a combo guard who may play some point in college. He's got an outstanding feel for the game, very good vision and an excellent shot to the stripe. He's also the best passing guard in the west. Christopher is a scorer with deep range and a very quick release. He's got good size and jumps very well. Fields has a sweet stroke, with a quick release, and he's not yet physically mature. He might end up the best of the group once he gets bigger and stronger. Westbrook has grown three inches in the last year and he's one of the most improved players in the west. More of a scorer than pure shooter, he's still growing and has a very big upside. Gunderson is a very heady player with excellent ball skills. He can defend any one of the three perimeter positions and he makes excellent decisions. He may spend some time playing point guard as well as the two.
