Bassett Is Big 12 Bound!

Armon Bassett was ready. After visiting a Big 12 campus, he knew exactly what he wanted. Recently, Bassett ended his recruitment and verballed to a major college program.

The Missouri Tigers are the owners of another verbal commitment in the Class of 2006. Armon Bassett, a native of Indiana who will prep this season at Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military, picked the Tigers after making an unofficial visit last weekend.

"I'm happy to get it done," Bassett told Scout.com. "It was a chance to come in and play right away. They are graduating a senior point guard this year and it's a chance to play big minutes."

Bassett, a member of Scout.com's Top 100 last year, also received offers from UNLV and Marquette. However, after visiting Columbia, Bassett realized the Tigers had everything he wanted in a college.

"I just didn't realize I was going to like it that much," Bassett said.

A previous relationship was a big reason for the new Tigers addition. Coach Jeff Meyer had recruited Bassett when he was still at Butler and the pair had an excellent history together. "He had a big time role," Bassett said of Meyer. "He was the main man recruiting me when he was at Butler. He slid my name to Coach Snyder and they started recruiting me during the school year."

Bassett switched AAU teams during the spring and summer. At one point, Bassett wasn't sure where he stood with the teams recruiting him. "I had a pretty good first two weeks (of July) and that solidified me with a couple of the schools. Even though I didn't put up big numbers in Vegas they were sold on me."
