Muonelo Names Leader

Obi Muonelo has himself a leader. Actually, he's got a leader and a tier system set up for his school list. The Edmond, Okla., product is starting to fall for one school.

Obi Muonelo, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Sante Fe High, has five schools under consideration and he's already got a grasp on where each stands.

"Right now it's Oklahoma State and Kansas," Muonelo said. "OSU has the upper hand but Kansas is almost tied. Then after that comes Texas and Oklahoma in a tie. Close tie, seriously. Then Illinois."

Got it? Five schools, broken down into three tiers. Simple stuff really.

"Oklahoma State leads and they're doing it, they're doing good," Muonelo said. How'd they get up there you ask?

"Well, they're in Oklahoma. They're usually almost at the top of the Big 12. That's really big. I love their crowd. It's crazy. It can't get louder than that.

"Right now I see myself at O-State or Kansas."

The Jayhawks only recently began pressing Muonelo, who hails from the same hometown as KU coach Bill Self.

"Coach Self came on strong last night. They're telling me they want me to come in and contribute right away. They think I can play all three positions."

Muonelo has been to Oklahoma unofficially many times and the same can be said for the Cowboys. He talks about visiting Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois but from the sounds of it, breaking into the first tier might be tough.

"I'll probably will visit those three but you never know," Muonelo said. "I may end making a decision by around September or October."

And where's he visiting first you ask?

"I'm taking probably my first two official (visits) to Oklahoma State and Kansas."
