SMU Goes For Foreign Big Man

Southern Methodist now has three members in its current recruiting class. This time, SMU's Mike Dement went big. He also went for a foreign player.

Lithuanian Big Man Picks SMU

Jamie Arsenault of the New Hampton School saw another one of his players make a commitment this week. Last week, point guard Wes Miller picked James Madison over Dartmouth and UNC-Greensboro.

This week, center Donatas Rauskaukas selected Southern Methodist over LaSalle, his other finalist.

"I think he's going to be able to go in and play," Arsenault said. "He's going to have to earn time but I think he's got a chance to be pretty good. He's 6-10, shoots well and is just getting stronger. He's definitely, I think, a very good player."

Rauskaukas is from Lithuania. Georgia also gave him a look this year. He averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds. "If you put that into high school, what would he do?" Arsenault asked. "He's a kid that could have done a lot more in a different situation. When you have Rashad McCants you don't have to worry about finding guys to score."
