Boone Reaches Decision About Future

Power forward Josh Boone has reached a decision about his future. Armed with offers from schools such as St. Joe's, James Madison and Boston U. to name a few, Boone has decided on a different path.

Boone To Spend A Year At Prep School

Sykesville (MD) South Carroll power forward Josh Boone has reached a decision about his future next season.

"I'm going to prep school," Boone said. "I'm not sure (which one) yet. It's been a thought for a little while. Me and my mom decided that it was the best thing for me to develop physically and mentally."

Boone says that he has offers from St. Joe's, James Madison, Rutgers, Providence, West Virginia and Boston University.

Normally, a qualified big man with those types of offers would accept and make a spring decision. Maybe he's waiting until next year for a different offer? "I'm not really waiting on anybody," Boone said. "I just think that I really need the extra year.

"It has nothing to do with grades or anything like that. It's just age and the strength aspect of it."

Predictably, Boone has received mixed emotions from the schools he's told. "Some of them say that's good but others say that we'd rather have you now. Normal things that you would expect them to say."

Boone said that he has spoken with Brewster, Lawrenceville and West Nottingham, though he hasn't reached any decision. He will play with Cecil Kirk this weekend at the Boo Williams and would like to attend Nike or adidas Camp if invited.
