Michigan State Leads For Cotton
How convenient. Marcus Taylor says he wants to leave for the NBA or at least plans on testing the waters. Tough break for Michigan State, but not so bad considering the quality of the guy who wouldn't mind replacing him.
Ask Detroit (MI) DePorres junior Brandon Cotton if the Spartans lead and he's quick and to the point. "They are," Cotton said. "A lot of schools are interested but they are the one that's really on me."
So there you have it, Michigan State is the team to beat for Cotton. Penn State, UConn, Missouri and Duke are also on his list. On Thursday, one day before the Boo Williams event, Cotton will make a little stop in East Lansing. He says that Maywood (IL) Proviso East guard Shannon Brown is supposed to be on campus as well.
Regardless of what Brown does, Cotton will have Michigan State high on his list and he'll be ready to get this recruiting process over with sooner than later. "I just want to focus on other stuff and coaches keep calling and want to come down and watch me."
Sounds like the coaches are interested in watching the evolution of a point guard. Cotton averaged 29 points a game as a junior but knows his work isn't done. "I have to become more of a point guard. I've got to get better at my passing skills. I always could pass I just never did it. At the level I'm trying to play at, I have to increase my passing skills."
