Neely Goes The CAA Route

Marsharee Neely is off the board. The Greensboro (N.C.) Page senior is headed to the Colonial Athletic Association to play for one of the league's strongest teams.

The battle for one of the best seniors in the state of North Carolina ended this week. Marsharee Neely, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard, picked the Old Dominion Monarchs after considering UNC-Wilmington and East Carolina.

The Monarchs were the declared leader in July and got it done in mid-August.

"We just narrowed it down," Neely said of the process. "I had a couple of other schools that I was looking at. In the end, it was still Old Dominion."

Last season, Neely scored 18 points a game for Page. He solidified his mid-major status by being a knock down shooter for the Greensboro Gaters this spring and summer.

Neely is looking forward to playing for the Monarchs, who should be NCAA contenders the next few seasons.

"I know that its (program is) building up. They did pretty good last year and I know I'm going to help out a lot. All I know it's on the rise."
