Birdsong Taking His Time

Louis Birdsong, a senior out of Mount St. Joseph in Baltimore, Md., has become quite the hot mid-major (and higher) target. The 6-foot-6 power forward gave us the lowdown on his recruitment.

Louis Birdsong, a 6-foot-6 power forward out of Baltimore, fought through some injuries at the AAU Nationals but along the way looked impressive nonetheless.

With offers from James Madison, George Mason, Delaware, Old Dominion and Akron already, he's turning into quite the mid-major prospect. In fact, he already visited George Mason so he's got four official trips remaining.

"I haven't talked to that many schools," Birdsong said. "They've been calling my cell phone but I've been playing basketball when I called. A whole bunch have been calling me on my cell phone and my house."

Charlotte, Marshall, Ball State, ODU, JMU, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, Winthrop, Charleston, Mason, Delaware … and the list goes on.

"I visited George Mason officially and I'm supposed to visiting Akron pretty soon and I think I'm visiting George Mason again," Birdsong said. Birdsong said that he'd also like to visit Charlotte.

Birdsong, despite the visits, doesn't seem to be in any rush to reach a decision.

"I'll probably decide once the high school season is over," Birdsong said. "I really haven't seen that many schools yet. The only schools I've seen so far have been George Mason and a little bit of James Madison. I want to keep my options open."

Last year, Birdsong averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds.
