Illinois Rounds Out Class With Big Man

The Fighting Illini received a commitment from the spring target they coveted all along. Chicago Dunbar center Aaron Spears visited the Champaign campus last weekend and wasted little time in making his pick.

Spears Rounds Out Stellar Class

The class that took nearly a year to make is finally complete. On Sunday night, Illinois received a commitment from much-improved 6-9 center Aaron Spears of Chicago Dunbar, per our sources.

Spears had said late last week that Illinois and Iowa were his two clear favorites so apparently the visit to Champaign this past weekend was enough to convince him the in-state school was the place to be. He also considered Houston, Oklahoma, Miami-FL and Oregon to name a few.

After he signs in the next few days, he'll become the fifth player to ink with the program this year, giving Bill Self a Top 5 national recruiting class. Dee Brown, Deron Williams, James Augustine and Kyle Wilson are all on board.
