The commitment by Walker, ranked No. 78 by Scout.com, is the biggest to date by the new regime at DePaul. Walker is a mentally strong guard who plays with a tremendous amount of poise, confidence and efficiency.
The Blue Demons edged the Michigan Wolverines for the commitment.
"They came real hard," Walker said. "They were at every one on the games through July. Everywhere I was playing I saw them there. When they could call, they were the first ones to call.
"They told me that I was their No. 1 guy and they wouldn't take anyone until they waited to see what I would do."
That persistence and perseverance was rewarded on Labor Day with a commitment. As schools evaluated Walker (and some moved in other directions) the guard simply continued to play well and with confidence.
The commitment by Walker to DePaul is big on a number of fronts. It gives the new staff a talented in-state performer who plays the game with a chip on his shoulder and is a proven winner with plenty of intangibles.
Last season, Walker averaged 24 points, 5 assists and 4 boards.
