Done Deal: Tatum Makes His Pick

Tucker (Ga.) High's Cameron Tatum ended his recruitment. The big time athlete from the Georgia Stars is staying in the south.

Charlotte worked Cameron Tatum hard all summer and when the 6-foot-5 small forward blew up in July, their long term commitment paid off.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Tucker High standout picked the 49ers after hearing from Georgia, South Carolina, N.C. State and Tennessee.

"They've been on me for about a year now," Tatum said. "They were telling me that even if I had a bad summer they wanted me. The scholarship was still on the table."

Well, the senior who averaged 20.7 points last season didn't have a bad summer, he had a tremendous summer and in the end, his recruitment expanded. Still, he respected the 49ers commitment to him and went with the team that never wavered in its loyalty.

"When I went up there unofficially, right away I wanted to commit," Tatum said. "My dad and I thought about our options. But with the relationship I have with Coach Hill and the opportunities I have there … I like everything about it."

The 49ers are getting a very athletic wing who plays the game they way they like – in attack mode.

"I need to play hard all the time and lead by example."
