Hayward Has Two Visits on Tap

Lazar Hayward picked up right where he left off after his season at Notre Dame Prep (Mass.). The Buffalo, N.Y., native had a strong summer which led to high-majors taking a closer look.

Lazar Hayward went from a guy who would have been more than content heading to a mid-major school to a player whose got high-major schools heavy in pursuit.

``I don't think there's even a word to describe how it's all turned out," Hayward said. "I certainly didn't think it would go like this."

The former Buffalo Traditional High (N.Y.) sharpshooter, whose game has evolved into a multi-dimensional scoring threat in the past year since heading to Notre Dame Prep (Mass.), is heading on an official visit to Marquette on Sept. 23 and plans to visit UConn for Midnight Madness.

The 18-year-old Hayward, who scored 28 points in a recent Five-Star event, said that he is also working on scheduling an official visit to Virginia. Syracuse, Seton Hall and Providence are also in the mix.

Believe it or not, Hayward averaged about a half-dozen points through the first half of the ND Prep campaign last season. Then, all of the sudden, he went on a scoring rampage, going to the basket with authority and adding that to his already accurate long-range shot.
