Desean Butler Down to Two

Desean Butler got a chance to get to know Jerry Wainwright while the former Richmond coach was recruiting another Bloomfield Tech (N.J.) guard, Courtney Nelson. Now Butler has two schools left on his list - including Wainwright's current employer.

Desean Butler will jump in the car tonight with his father and AAU coach and take the drive to Morgantown, West Va.

The 6-foot-6, 205-pound Bloomfield Tech (N.J.) senior small forward, who is down to a pair of schools – West Virginia and DePaul, will take his second unofficial visit to West Virginia – and then set up an official visit to DePaul shortly after he takes the SAT on Oct. 8.

``Both schools are saying the same thing," Butler said. "I just have to take visits to both schools and see how it is. I want to talk to the players, especially the guys on the bench – because everything is going good for the starters. I want to see what the other guys say about the school and the staff."

The versatile Butler got an opportunity to know Jerry Wainwright while he was recruiting another Bloomfield Tech (N.J.) player, Courtney Nelson, while Wainwright was at Richmond.

``He coaches the way I like to play," Butler said. "I've known him for a while – since he was recruiting Courtney when I was a freshman – and I have a good relationship with him."

``I don't know Coach (John) Beilein as well, but I know a lot about West Virginia, especially after what they were able to do last year in the NCAA Tournament," added Butler.
