Green To Embark On First Visit

This weekend, Jacob Green will hit the official visit trail. The 6-foot-9 forward out of Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga gets things started with a trip to the Big Apple.

Jacob Green, a 6-foot-9 standout for coach Steve Turner at Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga, has shot up the charts as a prospect since June.

"From the NBA Players Camp on, he had a very good summer," Turner said. "Because of that his recruitment really started to pick up."

Fordham, George Washington, Boston College, West Virginia, VCU, Niagara, Jacksonville, West Virginia and Delaware are chasing him. He's been to Fordham, George Washington and Delaware unofficially.

The Rams have been strong and consistent on him but the visits are going to be key.

"It's going to come down to his visits," Turner said. "I would say Fordham has done a helluva job recruiting him. They were there from the jump. They're good in with him but he wants to do his visits and give everybody a fair shot and make a good assessment of what is the best fit for him."

Fordham gets rewarded for its diligence with an official visit this weekend. George Washington has a trip set up the following weekend and Boston College has a tentative date for the initial weekend in October.

Green, who was 6-foot-8 in June, is said to have shot up to 6-foot-9, according to Turner.

"He's got an ability to run the floor. He's an excellent shot blocker and he's a lot more skilled than people understand. He shoots it well from 10-12 feet. His biggest thing right now is that he has to get stronger and put some weight on. Everyone loves his upside."
