Pondexter Makes Decision

Quincy Pondexter took a visit to UConn last weekend and then to Washington this weekend. Then the San Joaquin Memorial (Calif.) wing decided he didn't need to go any further.

Quincy Pondexter didn't need any more visits. The 6-foot-6 ½, 180-pound senior wing at San Joaquin Memorial (Calif.) make his decision and will announce it publicly on Thursday afternoon between Washington and UConn.

According to sources close to the situation, Pondexter will commit to the Washington Huskies.

Pondexter, who averaged 20.3 points and 5.8 rebounds as a junior and is ranked 27th in the Class of 2006, cancelled a third visit schedule for Memphis and will make his announcement official Thursday at 3 p.m. PST.

Pondexter, an athletic wing who established himself as an elite player this summer when he displayed the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter, visited UConn last weekend and returned from a trip to nearby Washington this weekend.

``I'm down to those two," Pondexter said.

``I like how much the UConn program wins and how good Coach (Jim) Calhoun is," he added. "He's one of the best of all-time and is a Hall of Famer."

``But there are a lot of good things going on at Washington," he continued. "They're up and coming in the Pac-10 and Coach (Lorenzo) Romar is a guy that many people would love to play for."
