The 6-foot-7 power forward out of Bethel High (remember Allen Iverson?) committed to play at Tulsa after visiting the school in addition to Pittsburgh.
"I feel that's the best fit for me so I went with my heart and family and I decided," McLean said. "That's where I'm headed."
McLean said he's looking forward to making the move and has no qualms about leaving the East Coast for the Midwest. "I'm used to leaving; my mom is in the military so it won't be hard for me at all."
One of the reasons that McLean picked Tulsa was because he viewed Wojcik's program as a great place to really leave a footprint on the program.
"I can come there and impact a lot more. Tulsa is a little down right now so I have to go there and help them bring it back."
There will be high hopes for McLean at Tulsa but none of the expectations will exceed his own. After a summer of playing sparingly on one of the nation's best AAU teams, McLean exploded at the AAU Nationals. He's looking to build on that momentum when he heads to Tulsa in the fall of 2006.
"(My freshman year) would look like 10-12 points and 11 rebounds and hopefully making all conference and freshman of the year."
