Butler Is The Right Fit At WVU

Desean Butler is going to play in the Big East. Over the weekend he made his collegiate decision.

Desean Butler felt comfortable and ran with his comfort level. This weekend, the 6-foot-6 wing out of Bloomfield Tech in New Jersey opted to play in the Big East for the West Virginia Mountaineers after considering and visiting DePaul.

"I really felt that either place, he couldn't really go wrong," Tech Coach Nick Mariniello said. "I respect both of those coaches and what they do. Beilein is getting some good recruits and when it's all said and done he's putting together a really good class."

Butler averaged 16 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists as a junior. "I think he wanted to get away from being in the city. Some of the things he liked were the campus and the environment."

Style of play was key, but he was well equipped to play at both programs. Being versatile was the perfect fit at West Virginia.

"I think their style of play was conducive to him. He can play multiple positions there. He really likes the guys that played there and the atmosphere."
