Davis Is Heath's First Recruit At Arkansas

The first recruit of a new regime is always special. For Arkansas coach Stan Heath, that recruit is Kendrick Davis of Clements High in Houston. The high-scoring guard signed on the dotted line with the Hogs.

Heath Nabs First Recruit

Stan Heath has had recent success with sleepers. He molded Kent State big man Nate Gerwig into a starter on an Elite Eight team when few figured that could be done in one season. Now, he has another "sleeper" freshman on his hands.

The Razorbacks inked Clements guard Kendrick Davis to a letter of intent. The 6-3 Davis averaged 30 a night last year and was an all-state selection.

"Kendrick is 6-3 which is a good size for a guard," Heath said. "He is a good 3-point shooter and he has the ability to get in the lane and create. He changes speeds well, which keeps defenders off balance. His size and quickness allow him to be a good defender."

Davis had highs of 46, 45 and 41 points last season.
