Powe Tears ACL

The injury bug has struck another standout performer prior to the start of the summer season. Oakland Tech junior power forward Leon Powe will undergo surgery to repair his ACL in the near future.

Powe To Have Surgery

Last weekend at a tournament in Houston, Oakland Slam ‘n Jam power forward Leon Powe injured his knee. According to his AAU coach, Calvin Andrews, it was later determined that Powe tore his left ACL. He will have surgery next week.

The doctor performing the surgery feels that Powe should be able to return to action sometime in the next four to six months. Obviously, that means Powe won't be a prominent figure on the summer circuit. Last July, he assaulted the adidas ABCD Camp with spirited play and made the underclassman all-star game.

Powe is one of the Top 5 players in the country.
