McFarland's First Trip in Books

Chas McFarland took his first official visit this weekend, but it won't be the last for the 7-foot Illinois native.

Chas McFarland's first official visit is in the books and while his trip out west to USC went extremely well, the 7-footer plans to take at least a few more visits before concluding the process.

McFarland, the Lovington High (Ill.) product who has seen his stock rise like no one else over the past month, plans on taking visits to Providence, Boston College and Marquette on successive weekends – and then he'll choose from between Texas and Miami for the fifth and final official trip.

McFarland got a chance to tour the campus on Friday, meet with academic advisors and also play pickup with the USC team. He also got a chance to hang out with the team and catch the Trojans victory over Arizona on the gridiron.

``The highlight of the trip was probably getting a chance to play with their guys," McFarland said. "I really enjoyed that and thought I played well."

It wasn't McFarland's first taste of going up against college big men, though. He and his Worcester Academy teammate, forward Ben Eaves, had been to Providence and UConn recently on unofficial visits and had played against the players in pickup.

``I really liked the visit this weekend, but I'm definitely gong to take a couple more visits," McFarland said. "I want to weigh my options a little bit."
