No. 58 Prospect Makes His Pick

Alex Stepheson,'s No. 58 prospect in the country, announced his collegiate intentions Tuesday afternoon in Los Angeles.

A few simple words, that's all it took to deliver the message.

"I've decided to attend the University of North Carolina," Alex Stepheson said during a press conference on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-9 center out of Los Angeles (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake, committed to UNC after narrowing his focus to the Heels and Connecticut.

Stepheson is's No. 58 prospect and No. 13 center in the Class of 2006.

His commitment strengthens an already impressive crop headed to Chapel Hill. Led by Top 10 prospects Wayne Ellington (No. 4) and Tywon Lawson (No. 8), North Carolina has the No. 2 early recruiting class in America, a spot behind Ohio State. In addition to Stepheson, the Heels have No. 22 Deon Thompson and in-state forward William Graves.
