Junior Post Makes Early Commitment

Robert Sacre, a 6-10 junior center from Vancouver, had interest from several Pac-10 programs, among other schools, but he has given a verbal commitment to a WCC program...

Robert Sacre, 6-10 JR C North Vancouver (BC) Handsworth Secondary, announced today that he has committed to Gonzaga.

We spoke with Randy Storey, Sacre's coach at Handsworth, about the commitment.

"He was hearing from Oregon State, Washington, and a bunch of other schools," said Storey. "But he wanted to eliminate distractions so he could focus on school. He liked the stability of the Gonzaga staff, the way they develop players and he had a good visit there. He was starting to get to know other coaches and he didn't want to lead them on and then have to let them down later on, so he decided to make the commitment now."

Storey went on to say, "other factors were the quality of people, atmoshpere of classes, and a focus on team chemistry."
