Tom Herzog Commitment News Plus Video

Tom Herzog completed his recruiting process on Friday. The 7-foot center out of Flint (Mich.) Powers isn't straying far from home for college.

The Michigan State Spartans are now the proud owners of a trio of Top 100 commitments and a lock Top 20 recruiting class. Joining Raymar Morgan (Scout.com No. 28) and Isaiah Dahlman (No. 70) is Tom Herzog, another Top 50 type out of Flint, Mich.

The all-stater who averaged 16 points a game as a junior picked the Spartans on Friday after considering Notre Dame and Michigan.

"I'm not sure there was just one factor but they've got a great basketball program," Herzog said. "They develop people and Coach Izzo is a great coach."

Herzog, a thin shot blocking center, checks in at No. 52 on the Scout.com Top 100. A defensive presence that has an offensive skill set, he continues to develop his game. Like most freshman, adding weight is going to be huge for his development. In fact, getting stronger will determine the course of his freshman season.

"I guess I would have to say that I develop as a player, gain some weight and muscle and become a regular part of their rotation," Herzog said of his early goals. "I guess All-Freshman Big Ten would be nice but I'm looking to develop as much as I can."

Herzog is quite familiar with the other two recruits that will be joining him in East Lansing. One of his fellow classmates actually has been hitting him up pretty good about becoming a Spartan.

"I met Raymar when I was on my visit and he's a good player. I didn't talk to him a lot but I've met him. I've talked to Isaiah a few times this summer and we talked about going to Michigan State together but we both hadn't really decided. He called me a few times to try and recruit men."

Looks like it worked.

Scout.com and HoopTV.net are excited to bring Spartan fans video highlights of Herzog's game!
