"X" Marks The Spot For Graves

Adrion Graves from the Queen City Prophets is headed to the Atlantic-10. Scout.com's No. 72 prospect made his decision on Friday.

Sean Miller and the Xavier Musketeers have their second commitment from the Class of 2006 and this one is a biggie. Joining Jason Love is Adrion Graves, a 6-foot-4 stud wing player out of Cincinnati Hughes who averaged 25 points a game last season.

The No. 72 prospect in America picked the Musketeers over Xavier, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall and Tennessee. "X" was his only official visit.

"I think they'll use me as a scorer really," Graves said. "I'll help out Stanley Burrell."

That he will and then some. Graves experienced a meteoric rise into the Scout.com Top 100 when he came out of nowhere to break into the Top 75 after a strong spring and summer.

For Graves' mom, staying close to home is just what she ordered. "It's a blessing. I can breath," Jeanell Graves said. "I thought he might leave."

The mother of 9 children has fond memories of Xavier. "I had a friend and I remember that we used to go and visit Xavier and watch the games. I really enjoyed just being. Plus, it's close to home. We have a relationship with them."

Graves is ready to lace them up and make it happen. "As a freshman, if we can make it to the NCAA Tournament and get a 20-win season (that would be successful)," Graves said. "For me, I'd want to be one of the leading scorers as a freshman in the Atlantic-10."
