The 6-foot-3, 185-pound senior guard, who averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 boards and 4.5 assists last season at Genesis One (Miss.), committed to Alabama while on an official visit to the school this weekend.
``I'm excited," Cloyd said. "I really love the players, coaches and the campus. The coaching staff – Coach (Mark) Gottfried and (assistant) Coach (Phillip) Pearson – were up-front and honest with me."
``It's a great opportunity to play in the SEC and playing time is there for me," Cloyd added. "As long as I work hard, there's a chance for me to play early."
Cloyd said one of the keys was the fact that he felt like he connected with the Crimson Tide players, and in particular, guard Ron Steele and big man Richard Hendrix.
``They are both laid-back – like me," Cloyd said.
Cloyd is a lefty who knows how to score and is more suited to play shooting guard in college.
