Thaddeus Makes Surprise Pick

Thaddeus Young made his pick on Monday morning at a news conference. Take a look at where the 6-foot-8 forward is headed.

Thaddeus Young was the last of Scout.com's Top 10 Players in the country to fall – and he surprised many when he opted to commit at Georgia Tech at a news conference on Monday morning.

``I liked Georgia Tech because they have a lot of big men and I didn't want to go somewhere that I would have to play inside," Young said at the news conference.

The 6-foot-8, 205-pound Mitchell High (Tenn.) senior had one of the more unique recruitments in recent memory. He put out a news release to announce he's trimmed his list to seven schools and then put out another recently to squash rumors that race would be a factor.

Young also considered Arkansas, Kentucky, Memphis and, until Brandan Wright committed to North Carolina, the Tar Heels.

Young, who averaged 23.6 points and 12.2 rebounds as a junior, is one of the top scorers in the nation. He's versatile, athletic and is also a quality student in the classroom.

Young joins elite point guard Javaris Crittenton, along with big man Brad Sheehan and forward Zach Peacock, as future Yellow Jackets.
