"I would say it's 50-50 right now," Davis said. "It's real tight."
The 6-foot-8 ½ big man is looking at both schools with opportunity in mind. "What attracts me was looking at the different players and getting to see how I can fit in to the program and see the possibilities of getting some playing time. Those were the things I was looking at in both schools."
He recently visited Texas and the Longhorns didn't pressure him to commit and he liked that. UT recently accepted a commitment from Matt Hill and Davis wasn't sure what that means to him.
At this point, with the signing day just a few weeks down the road, Davis hasn't married himself to the idea of signing early. "I'm not sure if it'll be early or later," Davis said. "I'm waiting to see how some things shake out. If I wait I can see who is going to leave, who will be there at my position and what kind of opportunity I'll have."
You get the sense that Davis is more interested in keeping tabs on which players are in the program rather than which ones are on the way. "It's not a factor with people in my class. Either way, I'm going to have to work hard to get in and play."
Should Davis take his time and not sign in the early period, a lot could change. "Nothing is closed and nothing is for sure. There's a possibility that anybody could come in. Like I said, I'm not even sure if I'll go early."
