Chris Williams To Kent State
Last December, at the Slam Dunk To The Beach, Chris Williams distinguished himself with his Oxon Hill High team. Prior to the event, Williams was dead set on attending prep school next season; Williams is a young senior. However, teams started getting interested and Williams changed his mind.
On Wednesday, he committed and signed with Kent State. "Chris Williams verbally committed to Kent State this morning," a source close to the situation said. "He signed today."
The whole process with Kent State happened very quickly. Last week, Jim Christian went to visit with Williams and his family. Then, the 6-5 swingman made a trip to Kent State and it was over.
An official visit to Delaware scheduled for this coming weekend was cancelled. Last week, Virginia and College of Charleston came in. That's right, Pete Gillen in the morning and his former assistant Tom Herrion in the evening. However, Kent State soon wrapped him up.
"He went up and really enjoyed it," the source said. "He has a chance to play as a freshman. He thought it was the best choice for him."
Credit new Kent State assistant Rob Senderoff for moving swiftly and getting this done.
