Creighton, Ohio U. Land Prospects

Two strong programs – Creighton and Ohio U. – landed players of note this week.

The Creighton Blue Jays landed a strong post player out of California this week. Vista High big man Kenny Lawson committed to the Blue Jays after hearing from a host of schools including Tulsa, Providence, Oregon State, Wyoming, San Diego State, Boise State, San Francisco and Maryland.

Lawson was impressed with Creighton's winning ways.

"I think it's real important because one of my goals is moving to the next level after college and I think Creighton will do a real good job of preparing me for that.

Ohio University scored a commitment from Asown Sayles, a small forward out of Hargrave Military Academy.

Sayles picked Ohio after listening to pitches from Kent State and LaSalle.

"I just think he's a hard working, hard playing warrior," Hargrave coach Kevin Keatts said. "The kid gets after it. He's a glue guy; a dirty work guy. The kid is going to be a very good college player because physically he's ready to step into the program and play. Guys maybe be more talented but he's ready to go. Asown fits the college game."
