Nichols Makes Early Commitment

One of the best small forwards in the Class of 2003, Demetris Nichols, committed to Syracuse on Thursday. Nichols had been down to a pair of Big East programs.

Syracuse Seals The Deal

Sources confirmed with that Demetris Nichols called the coaches and committed to Syracuse on Thursday. "It's a done deal, he's going to Syracuse," one source said.

Nichols had been down to Villanova and Syracuse. He was on ‘Nova's campus for the Charlie Weber Invitational but insider sources said that his first choice was Syracuse despite some family members nudging him towards Villanova.

Nichols is a very important recruit for Syracuse. Should Carmelo Anthony find his way to the NBA Draft either this season or next, Nichols' role would increase exponentially. He's a different forward that Anthony too. He's going to be a prime collegiate defender because he challenges shots and rebounds with intensity.

Make no mistake about it; Syracuse landed itself and mighty fine player in Demetris Nichols.
