Brian Grimes Headed Home

Brian Grimes is headed back home for his college ball. The former Germantown Academy (Pa.) and current Brewster Academy (N.H.) forward made his decision on Monday morning.

Brian Grimes is going back home.

The 6-foot-6 former Germantown Academy (Pa.) standout who is currently at Brewster Academy (N.H.), has committed to LaSalle, which is about 15 minutes from where his family resides.

``It really came down to gong somewhere that I felt wanted and needed," said the 6-foot-6 ½ versatile forward. "With the recruits they are bringing in, I really think they can turn the program around and move to the top of the A-10."

Grimes also had interest from several Big East and ACC schools, but at the end of the day, he didn't want to wait any longer.

``I have a great relationship with the staff and the players already there," Grimes added. "Coach Jason Smith also speaks very highly of Coach G (Giannini)."

``He felt most comfortable with the coaches, as well as the players and faculty at LaSalle," Smith added. "He's excited about returning home to Philly and helping LaSalle compete for an A10 title."

Smith also speaks highly of Grimes as a player.

``Brian's a tough, competitive kid who plays bigger than his size," Smith said. "He finishes around the basketball and has a desire to do whatever the team needs to be successful. He's not afraid to do the dirty-work, if it will help the team."
