Kaba Zeroing In On Three

Daye Kaba, one of the top combo guards still on the board, is eyeballing three schools as we steam toward national signing day. Will he make it happen?

National Signing Day – or week – commences on Nov. 9. Daye Kaba, the 6-foot-3 combo guard out of Our Savior New American in New York, is a hot target right now.

Kaba told Scout.com on Tuesday that he's eyeballing 3 schools: Boston College, Southern Cal and now Pittsburgh. However, there's a pecking order.

The Eagles have moved into a slight leadership position. "Well, I have to say Boston College actually (leads)," Kaba said. "It's a great team, great conference and a great place. It's a good school with academics and I had a talk with the coach.

"I didn't commit yet but I did have a good talk with Coach Al Skinner. He said that he would use me as a one and a two but I'm not definitely decided yet. So far, B.C. has been my favorite one."

Southern Cal was a place he recently visited and is also considering. "What I really liked there was everything outside of basketball," Kaba said. "I had a good talk with the coach and it was pretty interesting. I'm not really sure about going there. They're rebuilding and they're going to have a new facility. The thing is I don't know if I want to go somewhere that's rebuilding."

And then there's Pittsburgh. The Panthers could actually host him on campus very soon. "I might make one last visit just to make sure I make the right decision," Kaba said.

"The assistant coach at my high school said that Jamie Dixon is supposed to come up Sunday. I might just go there this weekend and meet him over there."

Kaba, who was born and raised in France, said that he could decide within the next 2 weeks. Should that happen, some academic matters would need to be addressed, specifically with Boston College.

"I haven't sent my transcript to the Clearing House yet," Kaba said. "I've qualified on my SAT so supposedly I'm alright."
