Long and very slender, Daye is extremely skilled with the ball on the perimeter. He's got a terrific shot out to well beyond the stripe. Strength is an issue for Daye at this time and he's still growing into his body. But when he matures physically, watch out – this is a kid with a very high upside. He's also got good genes, as his father is former NBA player Darren Daye.
We spoke with Daye last night and asked him about the schools he's interested in at this time.
We asked Daye what he is looking for in a school.
"I'd like to stay close to home," said Daye. "Someplace where I can play the three. I want to get in minutes in my freshman year and definitely start in my sophomore year. I'm watching teams to see how they play. Do they play a lot of one on one or do they have guys coming off picks? I like Gonzaga and how they use tall perimeter players like Adam Morrison."
Daye told us he took an unofficial visit to Arizona State when the Sun Devils played USC a few weeks ago in football. "I like the campus a lot," said Daye.
We asked him about the timing of his decision.
"I'm not really sure when I'll decide," said Daye. "I almost want to see how my summer goes and see what happens after that."
