Darnell Gant, an outstanding junior forward from Southern California, is drawing interest from multiple high major programs across the country...
, 6-9 JR PF/SF Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw, is the #1 ranked power forward in the west for 2007. Gant has a terrific basketball body and the skills to play on the perimeter. We have him as a four, but with his quickness and perimeter game he might end up a three. He doesn't have the experience of the top players in the class, but his upside is extremely high and we love his approach to the game. With continued development, he has a chance to be one of the elite players in the country.
We spoke with Gant last night and asked him about the programs expressing interest in him.
"UCLA has been showing a lot of interest," said Gant. "The coaches have been out to my school – Coach Howland came out – and I'm interested in them. UCLA is a good school, with a good team and program.
When asked about other programs showing interest, Gant said, "Oklahoma State, Louisville, Georgia Tech and Arizona."
Gant mentioned that he has interest in North Carolina and Duke, but has yet to hear from either program.
Previously, Gant told us that he'd be interested in going east, but would more than likely stay in the west.
When asked about visits, Gant said, "I'll probably take them after the summer."
