Holmes Comes Up With Early List

B.J. Holmes is carving out his own niche. The Alief-Hastings prospect is formulating an early list.

B.J. Holmes has no resentment towards Jai Lucas just because the son of the former NBA player and head coach has received far more attention.

``I just play and all of it will take care of itself," said the 5-foot-11, 160-pound junior floor leader.

Holmes played with Team Houston two years ago and then with the T-Mac All-Stars this past spring and summer. He averaged 17 points and seven assists in high school as a sophomore.

``The Houston Hoops are stacked so I tried to go with the T-Mac All-Stars," Holmes said. "It was a new team and I thought they'd get a lot of recognition being named after T-Mac. We did pretty good."

Holmes is a guy who knows how to run a team. He's poised, quick and knows how to get his teammates involved.

Holmes, 16, said that education and just going to a "good program" will be the two most important factors when deciding on his college destination.

So far, he likes Texas A&M, Illinois, Texas and Georgia Tech.

``Georgia Tech and Illinois are probably the two leaders right now," he admitted.
