Stud Post Grad Headed To Big 12

Jeremy Mayfield, the No. 4 post graduate prospect in America, is off the board. Mayfield, according to a source, picked a Big 12 program Monday night.

Jeremy Mayfield, a 6-foot-9 native Texan who is spending a post graduate season at Houston (Tex.) Gulf Shores Academy, committed to Oklahoma Monday night, this according to a source.

Mayfield, a power forward, attended Irving (Tex.) McArthur as a senior last year. He ran with Craig Roberts' Team Fort Worth and was an attendee of the 2004 NBA Players Association Camp.

Mayfield committed to Nevada last season before opting to go the prep route. This year, once he opened the process up, Miami, OU, Texas and South Florida were amongst his suitors.

Mayfield's commitment is a significant one for the Sooners as he ranks No. 4 on the Scout.com list of post graduate players in the nation. In fact, the Sooners now own commitments from the No. 4 post grad prospect and No. 6 on that list, wing Tony Crocker.

The Sooners have assembled a serious recruiting class, worthy of Top 5 consideration. Joining Crocker and Mayfield are top notch high schoolers Damion James, Scott Reynolds and Keith Clark, all Top 50 prospects.
