Fields Will Wait

Landry Fields, one of the top guards in the west for 2006, is going to wait until spring before making his college choice...

Landry Fields, 6-3 SR SG Los Alamitos (Calif.) High, is one of the elite guards in the West Coast class of 2006, but he'll be waiting until spring to choose a college.

Fields has stated a preference for Stanford, but the Cardinal are asking for more academic information, specifically a higher test score and his first semester grades. So Fields has decided to hold off until the spring in the hope of getting a scholarship to Stanford.

We spoke with Fields' mother recently and she confirmed Landry's decision to wait.

"Yes, he's going to wait until spring," said Mrs. Fields. "There are other schools showing interest. USC has started to show interest. Baylor, Pepperdine and Gonzaga are also interested. But he'll wait until he sees about Stanford."
