2007 Focus: Garrett Green

Garrett Green, a 6-8 junior power forward from Southern California, has multiple high major programs showing interest in him...

Garrett Green, 6-8 JR PF Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft, hasn't "blown up" yet in terms of his recruitment, but he is going to be one of the better post players in the west for 2007. We saw Green recently at a Taft practice and he was very impressive. He's got big hands and good length, he jumps and moves well, and he's got a very nice shot to about 20 feet. Green is just starting to come into his own and he has a significant upside.

We spoke with Green and asked him about the programs he's heard from to date.

"Stanford, UCLA, UConn, Washington, Princeton and Yale are some of them" said Green. "The top ones right now are probably Stanford, UCLA, UConn and Washington."

We asked Green what he is looking for in a school.

"The education, early playing time and how the players have done in the past from the school," said Green. "Location doesn't really matter."

When asked if he had a dream school when growing up, Green replied, "North Carolina."

Green said UCLA, Washington and Colorado State have all been out to Taft to watch practice. "There have been some other ones also, but I can't remember them all," said Green.

When questioned about the timing of his decision, Green said, "I'm not really sure – I haven't thought about it too much yet."

Green told us he has around a 3.5 GPA. "I've been struggling a little with Spanish this year, but otherwise I'm doing well," said Green.
