Lorbek Joins Impressive MSU Class

Michigan State now has six members in its Class of 2003. The latest, Erazem Lorbek, has the furthest to travel.

MSU Loads Up

Erazem Lorbek, a 6-8 power forward from Slovenia, signed with the Michigan State Spartans. Lorbek was also courted at one time this year by UCLA and North Carolina. Lorbek was a member of the Slovenian Junior National Team and a second-team all-star in the Slovenian B1 league last season.

He is expected to be eligible to play next season for the Spartans. "He will have to adjust to the physical nature of college basketball at an elite level, but as Erazem gains added strength he can become a very good college player," Spartans coach Tom Izzo said.

The Slovenian joins an already impressive group of recruits. Once the football season is over, MSU gains the services of athlete extraordinaire Matt Trannon. However, the Spartans best recruit is 6-10 Paul Davis, a McDonald's All-American. He's joined by guard Maurice Ager, point guard Rashi Johnson and power forward Delco Rowley.

Michigan State already holds a commitment from Brandon Cotton, one of the top guards in the country in the Class of 2003.
